For another year, the National Palace of Culture and the Azaryan Theater are partners at the Sofia Theater Hall. In March, the audience will enjoy eight performances, part of the Salon, which are in competition for the Icarus Awards.
The start of the Salon in the theatrical space of the National Palace of Culture will be given to March 5 with the show The Last Man based on the novel by George Orwell “1984” / State Puppet Theater Stara Zagora /. The director’s version is by Veselka Kuncheva, and the play was awarded three ICAR nominations.

Next in the program is “The Portrait of Dorian Gray” based on the novel by Oscar Wilde / Drama Theater “NY Vaptsarov” Blagoevgrad / by March 7who also received three nominations.

“Indirect damage”, according to Svetlana Aleksievich’s book “War is not a woman’s face”, is a winner of “ICAR” in the “Debut” category and is waiting for you at March 8th.

The poetic performance based on texts by Bulgarian authors “For the light that was” / Drama and Puppet Theater Vratsa / you will be able to watch March 10. The director Margarita Mladenova was nominated in the “Directing” category.

Defined as a “Cultural Event of 2019” and winner of a special award “ICAR” for Snezhina Petrova, the show Medea waiting for you at March 13.

The Coco Boys is the performance that will mark the birthday of Prof. Krikor Azaryan – March 15. Coco Azaryan’s boys are a team of great actresses, all but one, his students. Together they prepared a high-voltage cocktail of theater, memories, music and live singing.

The show nominated in five categories for “Icarus” awards “Glory” / Drama Theater “N. O. Masalitinov ”/ you will be able to see on March 20.
“Glory” according to Peter Quilter, it is a bold and charming celebration of what is accepted and liked. In this inspiring story, created on a case-by-case basis, the patterns of beauty and perfection disintegrate into thousands of glittering particles to sprinkle the hat of the magnificent Florence – always ready to follow her inner world and infect others with creative enthusiasm. The show has five Icarus nominations.

The Corsair Theater Foundation will present its play on the stage of the Azaryan Theater “Paper stories” on March 22. “Paper stories” is a non-verbal puppet show for adults, nominated in the category “Achievements in puppetry”.

As part of the parallel program of the Sofia Theater Hall, the National Palace of Culture will host two events. From March 16 to 19 the actor Michael Wolf will hold a workshop on mastering new techniques for high-speed text learning for theater – “Palace of Memory”. Michael Wolf is an actor, singer, pianist, composer, magician and many other things that he continues to improve constantly. In 2019 he graduated from Liverpool University of Performing Arts. One of his great achievements, he considers the creation of a specific technique that adapts easy and fast memorization of text. The method has been tested on over 100 actors and allows memorization of texts in just a few hours.
From March 22 to March 26 at the Azaryan Theater a specialized scenographic studio awaits you with Marieta Golomehova – “Touch the stage”, in which participants will have the opportunity to peek into the world of Marietta and learn more about the intricacies of her work, as well as to create some specific scenographic and props details.
