The ceremonies are traditionally held on November 10, when the founder of the awards, Alfred Nobel, died in 1896.

This year’s Nobel Week is unusual because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Most events are virtual.

All laureates have already received their gold medals and diplomas in their countries – Germany, Britain, the United States and Italy with the help of Swedish diplomatic missions. Their ceremony was filmed and the relatively modest local ceremonies will be included in the TV show on the Swedish TV channel SSTV and the Norwegian NRC.
